A True Texas Wedding

At the end of September I was invited to shoot Rowdy & Haley's wedding. I have never shoot a wedding that wasn't Texan, but I have also never shot a wedding that was MORE Texan!
This wedding had every taste of Texas:
John Deere Tractors,
Case tractors,

The church was a barn,

Red High Heels,

graceful native mesquites,

horses, and of course little tiny cowboys,

Older Folks,

The next generation,

A cake that looked like leather!

Lots a luv,
A great Texas Sunset, Sistas,
Sunflowers,

Watermelon,

Pump Jacks,

And beer for champagne!
Congratulations Rowdy & Haley! I hope for the best for the three of you!

I've been published!

The Baptist Bible Tribune of Springfield Missouri which serves the National Baptist Bible Fellowship as well as The Texas Baptist Bible Fellowship picked up images from the Texas Fellowship held here in Snyder at Calvary Baptist! This is pretty exciting for a couple of reasons, one of which is that this means that my work has been published in a national magazine but also that Calvary Baptist got cudos for its sucessful efforts in the state wide convention!

Cheer

I loved this picture of Blair cheering at the Jr. High game Thursday night.

Cumbies, I promise I am working on your wedding pictures. I am probably 3/4 finished, I WAY over shoot! I think I had to go through 2500 pictures, from deselect I am down to 456! Yikes, I manage to make my own life harder than it has to be! But I am working on it!

Fall

Fall is, without a doubt, in the air. I have been racking my brain trying to come up with a way to capture Autumn here in West Texas. In some parts of the country Autumn is easy to picture, the leaves turning, rain, many things represent fall, but in West Texas it isn't as easy to take those pictures. However, tonight God gaves us a beautiful sunset in the midst of a little storm. But what a treat! Thanks Lord!

4, 5 & 6

These three are a force to be reckoned with. They are my younger girls teachers out here at Ira. They are Pat Sterling 4th grade, Kim Allen 5th grade, and Kaci Edwards 6th grade plus a little bonus, Kali Edwards. These are some of Ira's finest without a doubt! And they are having this much fun ALL the time!

New Toys

Shawn got some new toys for the barn.

He says this one is mine but I have my doubts. He doesn't let me play like he should.

More Music

Jayson Steelman is working on a new CD. I get to do the photography!

I have never had a shoot that converted over into black and white as easily as this one for the Steelman Gang did. I don't know if it was the tracks, the depot, the lighting or what. But every picture simply grayed where it needed to gray and turned black where it needed to. It was so easy.

And I just love the combination of color and black & white in those where I combined it.

Thank you Steelman Family (or most of it) for letting me working with you. I really enjoyed the chance to shoot you! I will start working on some album covers soon!

Sweet Kids

These are the Steelman kids. Their mom is a good friend of mine. They are such good kids. This is Amber. She is a sophmore at Snyder High School.

As I was editing Amber I was struck by a profound innocence in her eyes, her countenance.

This is her brother Alex. He has the sweetest smile.

If you are thinking you might recognize him, you may have seen him on another blog.
He is a freshman at Snyder High.

He has the sweetest smile!

I enjoyed working with these kids. They are really good kids and the more I know them the better I like them. The next blog you will see their dad. There is something about their mom, she won't let me take her picture yet. It's probably a trust factor.....

See You at the Pole, Ira

I was invited to attend the See You at the Pole student assembly this morning in Ira. Never mind the beautiful fall morning that God made, look at what his kids were doing....

....praying at school....

Snyder High School Hall of Fame

I had never had the opportunity to attend the induction of Hall of Famers for Snyder but what a thrill this must be for the honorees. My select inductee was Leslie Brown who was certainly a hometown hero for Snyder.

He did everything he possibly could for the sports programs in Snyder ending with his graduation in 1965. Baseball, football, basketball. If it ended in 'ball' he did it! And then he continued to do it all through his adult career as well, coaching all across the state of Texas.

He was inducted by Bob O'Day.

And certainly he was among some of Snyder's best. This is Mr. Brown with the other inductees.
What would a day like this be without your old teammates? These men certainly went on to their own personal successes, but knowing that the glory days helped to form the men they would become.
I have a feeling they could tell some stories!
Jerry Vestal was on hand to celebrate with his teammate too.
The current Snyder football head coach stops to congratulate Mr. Brown as well.

It just goes to show you kids. You never know when EXCELLENCE will catch up to you. It may be a little slower in making its rounds but Snyder won't let it go unnoticed. So keep yourselves to the task, it WILL payoff!

Snyder's Homecoming

Blair got to go to homecoming at a 'Big' school this past weekend. Her friend Alex took her with him to Snyder's homecoming. As much as Snyder's homecoming was an oddity to her, I am sure Ira's will be to Alex.
