Charles Mullis. He turned 80 years old this month and his family threw him a party. His wife, Jerry and their kids decorated the Colonial Hill Fellowship Hall with all kinds of memorabilia from Charles' life. Photos, newspaper clippings, awards, caps. You know, some of the trappings of a successful life. Folks gathered. I suspect that some traveled distances to get there, while others just had to cross town. All sorts of people.... brothers, friends, cousins, classmates, children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews. There are all kinds of things that represent a life well lived but what testifies best of a man who has done well with his ways is the people in the room. Those people love Charles. They took time to be with him because at some point he took time to be with them. The hugged him because at some point he hugged them. Charles is good people. Happy Birthday Charles.
