Billy Wayne Harris Thunderbird

Beautiful car and a beautiful man.
He is 75 years old but acts 40. Well, more responsible than 40, but acts young.  He drove me around on some back roads behind WTC and would rev that beautiful car up and drive fast but never illegal.  He said he didn't want to hurt it.
On the way back to my car he was telling me stories.  He said he saw this car and just like Xan (his wife) he HAD to have her.
But he hesitated for just a moment and said "I don't deserve this car".
"Why not? Why would you say that?"
Silence... "I don't know... Ever had anything you just never really felt you deserved?"
"I don't feel I deserve much of what I have".
For that moment Billy Wayne Harris and I stood on even ground. Though separated by 30 years and numerous life experiences we were absolute equals.
I figure we all have things we don't deserve. It's a pleasure God grants us because we are his kids. Not so that we can over indulge or become arrogant or prove something to a world that doesn't care... but just so God can look down and say "he sure does enjoy that".

Amanda Browning. WTC Graduate. 2012

How they do grow up.  Two years ago I took Amanda's senior pictures.  I have known her mom since she was just a little thing.  We all tractor pulled together and I remember Goldie wandering the "pit" with the rest of the little kids and now she has a beautiful college graduate with a bright future and a sweet honest smile.
Amanda, Shawn and I are proud of you too!  Goldie, Michael, yall did a great job with this girl.  You did great!
Go get 'em Amanda!

Massingill. Family. 2012. Grown!

I just love this family.  Steady. Strong. Sweet. Consistent. Good.
The Massingill Family from Borden County.  Roscoe, Dad.  Cindy, Mom. Tyrell, Son. Kalyn, Daughter.
The Miller Ranch is home to them and has been since they got married.  Work...Hard Ranch work is who and what they are.  Keepers of the flame of a land that makes or breaks people and people who respect the land enough to not even try to break the land.
Thank you Roscoe, Tyrell for smiling!
Thank you Cindy and Kalyn for your beauty!

At the Spa

Shawn and I celebrate our 24th Wedding Anniversary today.  I have no idea how he has put up with me this long but I'm glad he has.  We have always heard neat things about Escondida Resort in Medina Tx.  It was just a beautiful place.  This is an all adult resort that provides breakfast and supper each day.  You are a short drive from Fredricksberg and the shopping you can enjoy there.
The resort is positioned in a box canyon and very secluded and there is no cell service.  This is definitely a place to RELAX, not sleep and move on to the next activity.  When you go to Escondida you are there to get away from everything.
The meals were excellent.  Everyone ate together in a dining room and ate common food.  They prepared one dish with sides and salad and served various beverages.  After the meals everyone would disperse and walk the grounds, enjoy the weather and the wildlife and then disappear.  And you would see them again the next morning.  I honestly saw nothing that I would have changed about this place.  The creek was natural although fed by a water well since all of Texas is enjoying a drought and you could see the fish in the mornings.
The property has a rich but sort of short history.  It was built in 1969 by the US government to house people who were in the witness protection program.  Then it was a family dwelling a couple of times and then Bob Philips, Texas Country Reporter, bought it thinking that he would live there but when he and his wife divorced they decided to turn it into a resort and built 10 rooms onto the original house, which you can see as the flat roof on the google earth map.
They have a workout room, and full spa with couples massages and manicurists.  It was nice.  I highly recommend this spot for a romantic getaway.
