Texas Rangers Game this weekend

We went to the Rangers game with some of the church people this weekend.  I didn't have time to edit everything out because I am working on a wedding portfolio.  So I did just a few of them.  The Rangers played the Houston Astros and lost the Friday night game in the rain but won the 186,000 degree Saturday afternoon game!  It was hot but it was fun!
Thanks Terri Williams and Angela Steelman for your organizational skills to make it happen!

Shawn's Birthday Party

Shawn's birthday was yesterday and it was a treat because not only did he finish planting cotton a couple of days earlier, he had rain to boot! (Of course that means a couple of replants but what do ya do?)  The girls and I fixed him his all time favorite meal:  Meatloaf, mashed potatoes and green beans.  Plus, he requested a chocolate cake...."nothing special just chocolate cake" he said.  So, from scratch we baked him a chocolate cake that I promise was so rich none of us could eat more than that tiny piece on that plate you see in one of the pix.
It was a lot of fun for everyone of us!  We love you Shawn!  Happy Birthday!

140 Year Old Dog

Meet Scooter, the newest? member of our family.  Scooter WAS my elderly neighbors dog but she passed away and became her daughters dog.  Then the daughter (Renee Floyd) has decided to travel some and so Scooter needed a home.  So now Scooter is our dog.  Thing is, that Scooter is old, really really old! 20 years old!  So in dog years Scooter is 140 years old.  I wish all dogs were this easy to deal with.  She sleeps at night,,, for that matter she sleeps in the daytime.  She eats, she drinks, she is pleasant.  No chewing on things, no pooping in the yard... she's just the perfect dog.
Welcome to the family Scooter!

Tired Supergirl

I haven't blogged anything personal in a very long time....if ever, other than the pix of the kids and things like that, but today I had to tell you about a book a friend of mine MADE me buy!
Susanna Foth Aughtmon is the author and what caught my friends attention about the book is the term Susanna uses repeatedly in the book:  Tired Supergirl".  THAT is me!  I am tired.  Tired of trying to be everybody's everything and trying to get it all done the way June Cleaver would have.  Tired of trying to have wisdom I simply do not possess, tired to trying to please please please.  And who is hardest on me?  ME!
To quote Susanna:

"Tired supergirls everywhere are haunted by the thought that not only do we disappoint ourselves, but we also disappoint our Creator on a regular basis.  Almost daily.  ....We disappoint Him about every 2.7 hours.  we have so many opportunities to make the most of, so many chances to take, and so many goals to achieve in this life.  Our track record is less than perfect.  Knowing ourselves the way we do, we feel like letting down the Most High is inevitable.  We are so far from the person he designed us to be, doing the things he would rather we not do, to think that God really is disappointed in us seems like no lie at all.  We are, after all, tried supergirls.  We get tired emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually.  We fail.  We succeed, and then we fail again.
"Maybe what the Liar is so keen on keeping us from realizing is what God IS disappointed in.  Maybe it is not so much our lives that disappoint him as the fact that we don't believe he can make a difference in them.  Maybe God is not so disappointed in the fact that we fail as in the fact that we don't believe he can actually change us.   Maybe he is not so disappointed that we struggle but more disappointed that we don't have faith that he can be our strength in times of weakness.
"We supergirls are disappointed in ourselves.  We focus on ourselves, on our lack and our weakness and our inability to perform at the level we think God requires of us.  But God says to us, "You are missing the point.  Haven't you been hanging out with me, and haven't you seen all the amazing things I have done?  What you lack, I have in abundance.  Where you are weak, I am strong.  When you can't perform, I can.  I am in control.  Always.  Even when you think I am lying down on the job.  Believe in me.  Have faith in me.  Put your trust in me.  I won't fail you."

I never really understood that "have faith in me" line until recently when someone I love dearly used this variation of those words on me..."don't quit on me".  Speaking of my belief in their determination.  I think that is what God is telling me.  It seems he is saying that as hard headed as I am, He is more!  He isn't quitting, why should I?

Sometimes life just breeds chaos and that's all there is to it.  There are simply seasons like that.  Planting season is one!  Senior season is another.  I am going to quit fighting so hard to be Super and just let things ride!  If its chaos that the day brings, ride the wave.  See where it takes me.

Just sayin'!

More of the Barbee

The Barbee Clan decided to go for the whole family this time.  We got to add to the Barbee Kids from last time and visited some really cool sand stone on their land.  It was really fun.  I enjoyed getting to know them!
